Our project
Santuario Maia is a sanctuary for animals rescued from exploitation.
Our goal is to transform a former farm — a place where animals were once used to produce milk, eggs and meat — into a space of care, respect and freedom.
A home where they can live safely, regain their dignity and simply be themselves, without being exploited.
Every step of the project is focused on creating an environment where life is protected and valued for what it is.
A place where exploitation ends and a new way of living begins.
Who we are?
We are Alessia and Edoardo, a vegan couple and activists.
We met in Barcelona in 2020, at a time of change for both of us. From then on, we began building a life together, guided by increasingly conscious choices.
In 2024, we moved to Tenerife, where we opened our vegan restaurant. It was an important step: a concrete way of aligning our lives with our values and contributing, in our own way, to creating change.
But over time, we felt that it wasn’t enough.
The desire to do more for animals grew stronger and stronger, until it became a clear decision: to create a place dedicated to them.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US
For now, the best way to support us is by helping us build our sanctuary.
We have made a very important decision: we have invested all our resources in purchasing the house and the land where the sanctuary’s future residents will live. Why? Because we don’t want to risk losing the land in the future and putting the lives of those who depend on us at risk.
For us, it was essential to guarantee them a safe, stable and permanent home.
The sanctuary is a former farm, so the existing structures are already there, but they need to be renovated to provide the right conditions for safety, wellbeing and care.
Every donation we receive brings us one step closer to making this possible.
The more support we receive, the sooner we can complete the renovations — and the sooner we can start saving more lives.
